ZDC Forum Policies

Background

The Virtual Washington ARTCC on VATSIM provides an online forum as the primary communication and interaction tool between ZDC staff, controllers, students, visitors and others (such as VATSIM, VATUSA, ARTCC and Virtual Airline staff).

Requesting Access

All ZDC staff, controllers and visitors are required to register with the Forum upon being accepted as a member of vZDC. Forum Access is requested via the "Register" link on the main Forum page.

Usernames MUST consist of the user's FIRST NAME, a space and the user's LAST NAME. Users must enter their VATSIM CID in the "Interests" field in the registration form. Registration requests must be approved by senior ZDC staff prior to activation.

Due to the significant amount of registration requests coming from "spam bots", ZDC staff must erase hundreds of such requests every day. Legitimate registration requests not meeting the specifications listed above will likely be deleted without further confirmation. On the other hand, given the volumes of illegitimate registration requests, there exists the possibility that a valid request could be inadvertently deleted as part of the "mass" deletions. Forum Conduct

Access to the ZDC forum is a privilege, not a right, and may be suspended or terminated if abused. The ZDC Forum is intended as a communications mechanism to support Virtual ATC and flight activities within ZDC and the VATSIM community. It is not intended as a discussion forum for political, religious or similar types of discussions.

We encourage constructive debate and criticism of opposing opinions in the allowable topics. Comments or posts that are considered to be offensive, discriminatory, vulgar or libelous in nature, at the discretion of ZDC senior staff, will not be tolerated and will be edited or deleted and the user's access to the forum may be suspended or terminated.

Links or attachments to inappropriate or illegal content, including but not limited to: copyrighted material (songs, games, movies, pictures or other media), pornography of any kind, online gambling sites, illegal pharmacies or other similar content are expressly prohibited. Submitters of prohibited material will be referred to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Depending upon the severity of the offense, the user may be referred to VATSIM for potential disciplinary action if it is determined that there may be a violation of the VATSIM Code of Regulations.
